Get on board with the SoKno Rail Trail!
The SoKno Rail Trail will be a 3.8-mile trail from Chapman Highway to Ijams Nature Center, transforming a former rail line into a pedestrian corridor through the heart of South Knoxville.
A vibrant 1.5-mile segment of the trail, the SoKno Art Walk, will be a destination celebrating the art, history and natural beauty of our community. Specially commissioned art pieces will showcase works by local, regional and nationally-renowned artists, integrating art, nature and recreation into an accessible experience for all.
The soft-surface, multi-use trail will be an ideal corridor for walking, running, bikes and even pub-crawling - connecting neighborhoods, businesses, restaurants, breweries and Knoxville’s Urban Wilderness. Trailheads will be situated at Kern’s Bakery on Chapman Highway, under the James White Parkway and Ijams Meads Quarry.
